We had the best time with Hiroyuki. He suggested the itinerary, made special arrangement to let us experience a hands on soya sauce making class, tried soya sauce ice cream, brought us to the oldest and best soya sauce maker in yuasa to buy soya sauce, ate the famous whitebait (shirasu) with rice and soya sauce which was delicious. He then drove us to Shirahama to see the breathtaking scenery of Sandanbeki cliffs and sunset at the beach. He doubled up as our photographer as well. He also made sure to call up the restaurant in advance for our dinner and we had the most delicious local Japanese dinner in Shirahama. He also takes into consideration our likes and offers us options and alternatives on where we can go. A tour guide who is knowledgeable, thoughtful and with lots of initiative. My whole family agree that this tour with Hiroyuki was one of the highlights of our trip! We highly recommend a day trip out of Osaka to Wakayama with Hiroyuki.

We are Sansei (third generation Japanese American) from California and wanted to reconnect with Wakayama relatives that we lost touch with once our grandparents had passed away. Noriko was very helpful before our tour and helped coordinate a meeting with our relatives. She also was tremendously helpful translating for us while we met with our relatives as we cannot speak Japanese. Noriko was very understanding of what we wanted to do and was very flexible in arranging our tour so we could learn about Wakayama and also, spend time with our relatives. It was a wonderful reunion and we were so thankful to have Noriko as our guide.

I am so grateful that I found Hiroyuki-San! He was the perfect guide to assist with planning and executing the PERFECT Kumano Kodo tour for my family. We only had 3 days available, and Hiroyuki was able to schedule a trip that allowed us to visit all 3 major shrines, do a bit of hiking on each of the 3 days, and even enjoy a river boat tour that was part of the original pilgrimage trail. He also helped us book amazing Onsen resorts for our overnights. Hiroyuki has deep knowledge of this area having worked with UNESCO on behalf of Japan to have the area designated as one of two important religious pilgrimage sites in the world (along with the Camino de Santiago in Spain). Hiroyuki was experienced in giving us a short history lesson on the Wakayama importance, the changes through times and the various highlights of Shogun era. It was a good day mixed with history, colourful scenic places and good food especially at the Tuna fish market. We chose the right guide.
It's been a week since we meet in Wakayama. Time is going so quickly, isn't it? It was very nice spending time with you, as I was born and raised there. I hope that you liked my hometown.
